Avibase ye una base de datos taxonómica en llinia qu'organiza datos taxonómicos y de distribución d'aves a nivel mundial. La base de datos ta basada na noción de conceutos taxonómicos en cuenta de nomes taxonómicos.[1][2][3][4][5][6] Avibase incorpora y organiza datos taxonómicos de los principales editores de taxonomía d'aves (The Clements Checklist of Birds of the World,[7] Handbook of the Birds of the World, BirdLife International,[8] IOC World Bird List[9] y Howard and Moore Complete Checklist of the Birds of the World[10]) y otres fontes rexonales (por casu, toles ediciones de la American Ornithological Society Checklist of North American Birds dende 1886). Los conceutos taxonómicos de más de 230 fontes taxonómiques distintes hanse enllaciáu y referenciáu con conceutos d'Avibase.

El sitiu web tamién ofrez llistes de verificación pa más de 20.000 rexones xeográfiques del mundu, páxines d'especies con información taxonómica y sinónimos, y ferramientes por que los observadores caltengan los sos propios columbramientos y llogren informes (por casu, mapes qu'amuesen países o puntos d'accesu d'eBird col númberu d'especies oxetivu que falten nuna de les sos llistes de vida).

La base de datos entamó a recopilar datos en 1992 y en 2020 tenía más de 10.000 especies d'aves y 22.000 subespecies. En total, la base de datos contién 27 millones de datos con información sobre distribución, taxonomía, sinónimos y nomes d'aves en más de 20 idiomes distintos.
