El mar de Groenlandia ta llindáu al oeste pola islaislla de Groenlandia, y al sur pol estrechu de Dinamarca ya Islandia; al sureste, detrás de la islaislla Jan Mayen, atópase la vasta estensión del mar de Noruega, del que dacuando'l mar de Groenlandia considérase una estensión. Al traviés del estrechu de Fram, al nordés, el mar ta delimitado pol archipiélagu de les islles Svalbard.
