Siguiendo el mandato de la Política Nacional de Intercambio de Datos y Accesibilidad (NDSAP) del Gobierno de la India que aplica a todos los datos no sensibles que se permitan compartir y que están disponibles en forma digital o analógica, pero que han sido generados con fondos públicos por varios organismos del Gobierno de la India, todos los usuarios disponen de una licencia mundial, libre de derechos y no exclusiva para utilizar, adaptar y publicar (ya sea en el original, o en formas adaptadas y/o derivadas), traducir, mostrar, añadir valor y crear obras derivadas (incluyendo productos y servicios), para lícitamente todos los fines comerciales y no comerciales, y mientras duren dichos derechos sobre los datos o la información.
El usuario debe reconocer al proveedor, la fuente y la licencia de los datos publicando explícitamente la declaración de atribución, incluyendo el DOI (Digital Object Identifier), la URL (Uniform Resource Locator), o el URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) de los datos en cuestión.
El usuario no debe indicar o sugerir de ninguna manera que el/los proveedor/es de datos respalda/n su uso y/o el usuario.
El/los proveedor/es de datos no se hace/n responsable/s de los errores u omisiones, y no será/n responsable/s en ningún caso de las pérdidas, lesiones o daños causados por su uso.
El/los proveedor/es de datos no garantizan el suministro continuo de versiones actualizadas de los datos, y no serán responsables en caso de que no se proporcione el suministro continuo de datos actualizados.
Excepciones: La licencia no cubre los siguientes tipos de datos: a. información personal; b. datos no compartibles y/o sensibles; c. nombres, escudos, logotipos y otros símbolos oficiales del proveedor o proveedores de datos; d. datos sujetos a otros derechos de propiedad intelectual, incluidas patentes, marcas comerciales y marcas oficiales; e. insignias militares; f. documentos de identidad; y g. cualquier dato que no deba ser divulgado públicamente por los motivos previstos en el artículo 8 de la Right to Information Act, 2005.
