== Biografía ==

The month after the election, Jimmy Carter began campaigning for the 1970 Georgia gubernatorial election.[25] Within the new campaign, Rosalynn was met with a slightly changed role, now making speeches, an aspect devoid of her appearances during his prior campaigns. The Carters were separated for most of their travels, and she initiated speech writing for the first time in her political involvement. Carter encountered a woman working on the Carter campaign that admitted her daughter had a mental illness, the site of the exhausted woman haunting Carter and becoming a factor in her eventual focus on mental health. Jimmy would later disclose that the couple's Georgia years were when they became "keenly aware of the unmet needs of people in our state who suffered from mental and emotional disabilities."
