William T. Blodgett

William T. Blodgett o William Tilden Blodgett (1823, Nueva York – 4 de payares de 1875) foi un coleicionista d'arte de la ciudá de Nueva York que tuvo un papel decisivu na fundación del Muséu Metropolitanu d'Arte.

Biografía

Tuvo activu na guerra civil americana y entamó el Club de La Lliga de la Unión de Nueva York y la Feria sanitaria pa recaldar fondos pa los mancaos. Fundó'l periódicu The Nation y foi un líder nel establecimientu del Muséu Americanu d'Historia Natural. En 1869 foi miembru fundador del comité pa formar el Muséu Metropolitanu d'Arte (MET). Perteneciera al comité de selección de les obres americanes pa ser presentaes na esposición francesa de 1867 y por tanto, en 1870 sabía lo suficiente, p'adquirir pintures, nel estranxeru, pal muséu recién fundáu.

Mercó un total de 174 cuadros que financió xunto con John Taylor Johnson y aproximao la metá d'esta compra de 1871» alcuéntrase inda nel muséu.
