Antonio Moreno (actor)

Antonio Moreno (26 de setiembre de 1887, Madrid – 15 de febreru de 1967, Beverly Hills) foi un actor y direutor español. El so nome verdaderu yera Antonio Garrido Monteagudo Moreno. Conocíu n'inglés dacuando como 'Tony Moreno', foi unu de los 'sex-symbol' y más famosos actores de la era muda del cine, compartiendo cartelu con actrices como Greta Garbo, Pola Negri, Gloria Swanson o Clara Bow.

Primeros Años

Antonio Moreno nació en Madrid, España, en 1887, anque la so infancia trescurrió n'Andalucía, en Campamentu, San Roque. Fíu de militar, quedó güérfanu bien pequeñu. Por razones económiques emigraría cola so madre a Estaos Xuníos a la edá de quince años. Una vegada n'Estaos Xuníos, trabayó nuna compañía de gas y lletricidá, ensin manifestar nengún interés pol cine. En 1910, torna temporalmente a España onde conoz a l'actriz Helen Ware, quien lo convence pa probar suerte como actor de teatru; de primeres en namái en papeles secundarios por causa del so acentu español. Debutaría pocu dempués nel cine mudu, y en 1913 roblaría un contratu con Vitagraph que lo convertiría n'unu de los actores más cotizaos del cine mudu y, xunto a Rodolfo Valentino, unu de los llamaos 'Latin lovers'.

Hollywood

Tres dellos papeles secundarios y d'extra, Moreno llueu llegó a interpretar papeles protagonistes xunto a otros de los actores y actrices más cotizaos del momentu. Asina llegaríen películes como La casa del odiu (The house of hate, 1918) xunto a Pearl White, My American wife (1922) con Gloria Swanson, La tierra de toos (The temptress, 1926), dirixida por Fred Niblo con Greta Garbo como protagonista, Mare nostrum (1926) de Rex Ingram xunto a Alice Terry o unu de los sos mayores ésitos, la película Ello (It, 1927), una comedia romántica dirixida por Clarence G. Badger colos actores Gary Cooper y Clara Bow; película qu'acuñaría'l términu 'It girl'. Moreno trabayó para Vitagraph, Paramount y Metro Goldwyn Mayer, y tamién dirixó delles películes; la primera, en 1920, llamada The veiled mystery, y darréu delles películes en Méxicu. Cola llegada del cine sonoru o 'talkies' la so carrera empezó a aparrar por cuenta del so fuerte acentu, polo qu'empezó a doblar películes al español ya inclusive rodó una película n'España: María de la O, dirixida por Francisco Elías xunto a Carmen Amaya y Pastora Imperio.

Vida personal

En 1923, Moreno casóse con Daisy Canfield Danziger, una dama viuda de l'alta sociedá de la que se divorciaría en 1933. Dambos vivíen nuna luxosa casona llamada Crestmount.

Moreno finó'l 15 de febreru de 1967 por cuenta de un ataque d'apoplexía cuando tenía 79 años. Ta soterráu nel campusantu Forest Lawn Memorial Park de de Los Angeles, California.
