Asturianu y bable

¡Saludos y enhorabuena por vuestro proyecto!

Me surge una curiosidad respecto a la Uiquipedia: ¿por qué habéis usado el término "asturianu" para la lengua? Yo en el colegio estudié el nombre de "bable" para ella. ¿Es el bable una variante dentro del asturianu o son equivalentes ambos términos?

Son equivalentes, pero lo más correcto es decir asturianu, bable es un término inventado a finales del siglo XVIII, aparte de que todas las lenguas reciben su nombre por la región o país donde nacieron: el inglés por Inglaterra, el catalán por Cataluña y así con todas. --Bar 11:57, 5 abril 2010 (UTC)

Wiki Foundation images ruling

I am Yosri from Malay Wikipedia. Recently I was informed by certain parties that MS Wiki need to delete any images tagged as Non-Commercial under Foundation Licensing policy. After I have done some studies, I realised that Wikipedia Foundations is moving towards allowing commercialises all images, as such they are acting on behalf of commercial company to require all images loaded with tagging Non-Commercial in all Wiki Project to be removed, including those loaded in local Wiki. You are only allowed to licenses your images under "free content", which specifically allows commercial reuse, example GDLF 1.2. Certain images is excempted under a very narrow EDP ("exemption doctrine policy") definition. If you all already aware about this, please ignore this comment. Language support group for Asturian

The Wikimedia Foundation has brought together a new team of developers who are dedicated to language support. This team is to support all the languages and consequently it is not realistic to expect that the team members can provide proper support for your language. It is for this reason that we are looking for volunteers who will make up a language support team.

This language support team will be asked to provide us with information about their language. Such information may need to be provided either to us or on a website that we will indicate to you. Another activity will be to test software that will likely have an effect on the running of the MediaWiki software. We are looking for people who clearly identify their ability. Formal knowledge is definitely appreciated.

As much of the activity will be concentrated on translatewiki.net, it will be a plus when team members know how to localise at translatewiki.net. Thanks, Gmeijssen 08:57, 15 ochobre 2011 (UTC)

User:บุญพฤทธิ์ ทวนทัย is a contributor based at the Thai Wikipedia who has created machine translations of articles and spamming them over a wide range of Wikipedia languages, including here. While the subjects of the articles he has created are (mostly) notable, the mistake of creating articles in languages he does not understand has led to extremely bad quality, probably at the level of illegibility. Unless local editors are willing to start a clean-up effort, I suggest that his contributions be deleted.
