Laura Mersini-Houghton

Laura Mersini-Houghton (1969, Tirana) ye una cosmóloga y física teórica albanu-estauxunidense, y profesora acomuñada na Universidá de Carolina del Norte en Chapel Hill. Ye una proponente de la hipótesis del multiverso, qu'afirma que'l nuesu universu ye unu de munchos.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] Afirma que delles anomalíes na estructura actual del universu esplíquense meyor como'l tirón gravitacional exercíu por otros universos.[10][11]

Biografía editar

Laura Mersini nació en 1969 en Tirana, Albania, fía del matemáticu y eminente economista Nexhat Mersini.[12][13]

Mersini-Houghton recibió'l so títulu de grau na Universidá de Tirana, n'Albania.

En 1994, Mersini-Houghton llogró una beca Fulbright pa estudiar na Universidá de Maryland mientres 8 meses.[14][15]

En 1997, recibió'l so maestría pola mesma Universidá de Maryland.

En 2000, Mersini-Houghton completó'l so doctoráu na Universidá de Wisconsin–Milwaukee.

Ente 2000 y 2002, en llogrando'l so doctoráu, realizó un posdoctorado na Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, n'Italia.

De 2002 a 2003, siguió la so investigación posdoctoral na Universidá de Siracusa.

En xineru de 2004, aceptó un puestu como profesora ayudante de física teórica y cosmoloxía na Universidá de Carolina del Norte. Llogró la permanencia en 2008 y xubió a profesora acomuñada en 2009.

El 11 d'ochobre de 2010, Mersini-Houghton apaeció nun programa de la BBC tituláu What Happened Before the Big Bang (n'inglés: Qué asocedió antes del Big Bang) xunto con Michio Kaku, Neil Turok, Andrei Llinde, Roger Penrose, Llei Smolin y otros físicos, onde propunxo la so teoría del universu como una función d'onda nun mayor multiverso.[16] El so trabayu na teoría del multiverso aldericar nel epílogu d'una recién biografía d'Hugh Everett III.[17][18]
