Ruth DeFries

Ruth DeFries (20 d'ochobre de 1956) ye una ambientalista, y xeógrafa d'Estaos Xuníos, especializada nel usu de sensores remotos pa estudiar la habitabilidad de la tierra so la influencia d'actividaes humanes, como deforestación, qu'inflúi nos regulares procesos biofísicos y biogeoquímicos.[6][7][8][9] Foi una de los 24 receptores de les beques MacArthur 2007, y foi escoyida miembru na Academia Nacional de Ciencies d'Estaos Xuníos en 2006.[10][11][12]

Biografía editar

En 1980, recibió la so Ph.D. pol Departamentu de Xeografía y Inxeniería ambiental, Universidá Johns Hopkins y la so B.A. en ciencies de la tierra en 1976 pola Universidá de Washington. N'abril de 2016, la Universidá de Columbia nomar profesora universitaria, el rangu académicu más altu. Enantes fuera profesora "Denning familiar" de Desenvolvimientu sostenible nel Departamentu d'Ecoloxía, Evolución, y Bioloxía Ambiental. Antes de movese a Columbia en 2008, foi profesora na Universidá de Maryland, College Park, con nomamientos conxuntos nel Departamentu de Xeografía, y Centru Interdisciplinariu en Ciencies de la Tierra .

Un Manifesto Ecomodernista editar

N'abril de 2015, DeFries xunir con un grupu de becarios n'emitir un Ecomodernist Manifesto.[13][14] Los otros autores fueron: John Asafu-Adjaye, Linus Blomqvist, Stewart Brand, Barry Brook, Erle Ellis, Christopher Foreman, David Keith, Martin Lewis, Mark Lynas, Ted Nordhaus, Roger A.
