Nacíu en San Francisco, California, foi contratáu p'actuar nel cine en 1912, participando nunes 70 producciones enantes de retirase. A lo llargo de la so carrera trabayó xunto a William Garwood en filmes como Lord John in New York y The Grey Sisterhood, actuando tamién de manera regular xunto a Douglas Fairbanks.

Yera hermanu de los actores Murdock MacQuarrie y Frank MacQuarrie.
