Ornithogalum umbellatum

Ornithogalum umbellatum ye una bulbosa perenne de la familia Asparagaceae, natural de la mayor parte d'Europa central y meridional, el noroeste d'África y suroeste d'Asia.[1] En Norteamérica, amás de cultivala como ornamental estendióse de forma montesa per munches zones.[2]

Descripción editar

Ye la especie tipu del so xéneru, con bulbos de 15-25 mm llargu por 18-32 mm de diámetru. Tien de 6 a 10 fueyes lliniales con una banda blanca nel fexe d'unos 30 cm llargu y 8 mm anchu con un escapo de 10-30 cm. Les flores arrexuntar nun corimbo racemoso compuestu por 6 a 20 floruques blanques con una franxa verde.[3][4]

Cultivo editar

Esta planta rique considerable mugor mientres l'iviernu y la primavera, pero tolera la seca pel branu. Puede cultivase nun xardín tipu montiegu como especie de semi solombra. Floria n'abril-mayu nel sur d'Europa

Usos editar

D'antiguo considerábense los bulbos como diuréticos y laxantes. Tamién como emolientes (p'amollecer duviesos y tumores de distintu tipu).[5][6] Nun inxerir, son tóxicos.

Taxonomía editar

Ornithogalum umbellatum describióse por Carlos Linneo y espublizóse en Species Plantarum 1: 307. 1753.[7]

Etimoloxía

Ornithogalum: nome xenéricu que deriva de les voces griegues ornithos (páxaru) y gala (lleche), polo que la traducción sería "lleche de páxaru". Pa dellos autores, esti nome referir al color de les flores de munches especies del xéneru. Pa otros, "lleche de páxaru" alude a les pallabres qu'aparentemente utilizaben los romanos pa indicar que daqué ye maraviyosu.[8]

umbellatum: epítetu llatín que significa "con umbelas".[9]
