Danielle Amanda George MBE (nacida Kettle) (xineru de 1976, Newcastle upon Tyne) ye una profesora d'inxeniería de frecuencia radiofónica na Escuela d'Inxeniería Llétrica y Electrónica (EEE) y decana d'Enseñanza y Aprendizaxe na Universidá de Mánchester, Reinu Xuníu.[3][4][5][6][7]

Educación editar

George creció en Newcastle upon Tyne[3] y educóse en Kenton Escuela[8] y la Universidá de Liverpool onde completó Bachelor de grau de ciencia n'Astrofísiques.

Dempués del so M.Sc. na Escuela de Física y Astronomía, Universidá de Mánchester, trabayando en Jodrell Observatoriu de Bancu (JBO), como inxenieru de frecuencia radiofónica.[9] Al pie del so trabayu d'inxeniería, completó un PhD nel Institutu de Mánchester de Ciencia y Teunoloxía (UMIST) n'investigaciones n'amplificadores de ruiu baxo.[10]

Carrera editar

George trabayó en JBO como inxenieru de microonda sénior hasta 2006, cuándo foi nomada conferenciante na Escuela d'Inxeniería Llétrica y Electrónica. Y, promovida a profesora a los 38 años en 2014.[3] Foi editora de la Revista Internacional d'Educación d'Inxeniería Llétrica (IJEEE) dende 2013.[11]

George ye líder del Reinu Xuníu p'amplificadores nel Square Kilometre Array (SKA), el Telescopiu d'Iguo Milimétricu Grande de Atacama (ALMA) y trabayó con NASA y l'Axencia Espacial europea nel desenvolvimientu d'instrumentación pa los investigadores qu'esquicen el Big Bang.[3][21]

Los sos estudios fueron financiáu por Ciencia[22] y Conseyu d'Instalaciones de la Teunoloxía (STFC) y el Departamentu pa Redolada, Comida y Asuntos Rurales (DEFRA).[20]

Recibió la 2014 Institución Real Conferencies de Navidá sobre cómo piratiar la vuesa casa.[3][25][26][27] George ye la sesta muyer en 189 años en presentar les conferencies de Navidá, siguiendo a Susan Greenfield (1994), Nancy Rothwell (1998), Monica Grady (2003), Sue Hartley (2009) y Alison Woollard (2013).[28] Les conferencies inclúin una conversación viva con Samantha Cristoforetti na Estación Espacial Internacional[29] y xirando el Shell Centre en Londres a un xuegu xigante de tetris.[30][31][32] Siguiendo la conferencia, George desenvolvió una orquesta robot resultando en ganadora de la 2016 Real Academia d'Inxeniería Rooke Premiu pa promoción pública d'inxeniería.[33]

Foi nomada Miembru del Orde del Imperiu británicu (MBE) nos 2016 Honores de Cumpleaños por servicios a inxeniería al traviés de compromisu públicu.[34]
